SIXTY YEARS!

MY! TIME HAS FLOWN AWAY

Where has the time gone? It seems like yesterday we parked on the top of Signal Hill making plans for our future. I do not remember any realization by us on those nights that we would be married this long. We were not able to see down the road that far. We were just too young to understand the huge commitment we were planning. As I look back I see the gamble we were making; we had not known each other for very long. I remember the intense infatuation I had with you. I was in love! Over the years of our marriage my infatuation with you has been slowly joined by a deep respect for the wife, partner, and friend that you are. I must admit I am still infatuated with you – that will not change any time soon. I must also confess I was very much taken by your beauty; you have all the right curves in the right places. You have only grown more beautiful as we age. I cannot count the many people who have remarked to me how you can light up a room with your smile. Nor can I of the people lifted by your happy and pleasant laugh. You have confidence and strength that allows you to humor my interests even though it means we must be separated for a while. I am thinking of the times I was away from you when I was climbing in Alaska. I can only repay your strength and generosity by working hard to nurture our marriage. We have many years of married life ahead of us and as we mark our sixty years of marriage, I say to you: I love you!
