A BETTER DAY – TODAY AT LEAST

I got up a about seven a.m. and drank my breakfast, consisting of an eight oz. high protein supplement drink. I then watched CNN cable news for awhile. I then made out checks for the monthly bills and my state and federal taxes. An old friend of Patty’s sister showed up to inquire about a box of pictures that we acquired for safe-keeping after the sister (Auntie Mike) died. Later, after my youngest son came home, he retrieved the box of pictures and opened it. I avoided looking at the pictures that were in the box because I knew if I did look at them, I would get depressed. Guess what, I still became depressed. I decided to do something for myself to, perhaps, lift my mood. I went for a walk on the City of Lakewood nature trail that is nearby to my home.  The trail is meant to be easy for “old guys” like me and it is. It is also very well designed so that the person walking the trail can only see about forty to fifty feet ahead. This adds to the the feeling that you are in a wild area, not in a city park. Nice! I did, however, learn that my soft, cushy SAS shoes, that I wear, do not work well on uneven terrain; I lost my footing several times on the park’s grass. I think I may look for my last purchased pair of boots and try them out on the trail.

The walking had the desired effect and I went out for my dinner, watched some more CNN news and am now ready for bed. Goodnight to all.
